Man was cleared under 'Stand Your Ground,' then shot to death on Miami street

A man who avoided a murder charge just months ago thanks to Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law was one of two men shot to death in Miami Tuesday night.
Cruz said officers responded to the area and found a young black male lying on a side street shot and unconscious. A second victim, another black male, was found shot inside a black pickup truck just feet away. The shooting happened around 9:30 p.m., Miami police spokesman Sgt. Freddie Cruz said.
The man found in the street was pronounced dead at the scene by Miami Fire Rescue. The second victim was taken to a hospital but died on the way, Cruz said.
According to the Miami Herald, the man shot in the truck was Greyston Garcia, who was granted immunity in March under the controversial self-defense law following a stabbing.
Garcia had chased down and stabbed a thief who had broken into his truck after the thief swung a bag filled with heavy car radios at him,
according to the Herald.
Police believe Garcia was an innocent bystander in Tuesday's shooting, the Herald reported.
Family members identified the man found shot in the street as 16-year-old Ronald Jones.
"You know, seeing my baby brother laying out here and you know, that's just an image that I'll never forget," sister Ronchel Jones said. "Everybody loved him, he was loving, caring, funny."
Cruz said police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
"This is like a big puzzle we're trying to put together," Cruz said. "We're not sure if these gentlemen were shooting at each other or if we have a third party that's at large that is responsible for the shooting."

How to Promote a Music Concert Event for Profit

by Alyson Paige, Demand Media

Promoting a concert means managing elements that must all go according to plan if the event is to turn a profit. Promoters must attend to matters related to talent, venues, ticket sales and payments. The small-business think site Positive Money Ideas suggests that concert promoters prepare for stressful, risky and multitasking activities. Concert promoters also need good business sense as well as the ability to cope with artistic temperaments. Timing is a big part of successful concert promotion. A concert promoter may own and operate a small business, but she has an opportunity to make impressive profits.

Step 1

Arrange for and manage artist booking and contract negotiations. Contact management agencies that represent the artist. Attend to every aspect of the contract, which includes artist payment, production requirements and contract riders, backstage accommodations, food, drink and other artist expectations.

Step 2

Contract a venue. A concert promoter negotiates an artist's contract while negotiating the appropriate venue. Book a concert hall that matches expected ticket sales. Negotiate, for example, a larger venue for a major rock band than for a stand-up comedian. Research the size of the audience the talent will attract. The appropriate venue may be a 20,000-seat arena, a field or a nightclub. Each site will have individual demands.

Step 3

Schedule sufficient time before a booked date to allow for ample advertising and preparations. Fishers Artists Agency, a concert promotion company, recommends beginning 14 weeks before the date to begin advertising, arranging ticket sales and ticket printing. Concert promoters handle ticket sales and payments to the artist, venue and merchandisers, to name only three accounting responsibilities.

Step 4

Advertise the event. Evaluate the amount and type of advertising that meets the event's needs. Large concerts, for example, often require a media blitz. Advertise in sufficient time before the concert date. Concert promoters must calculate an ad budget and do advertising placement that will drive ticket sales to turn a profit from the event. Advertising may include TV, radio, newspaper and online placement.

Step 5

Attend to production and audience details. The artist or the venue (the house) will provide sound and lighting staff. The website Creative Concert Promoters cautions concert promoters to make sure that concessions and restrooms meet the audience's needs at the particular event.

Drake and Chris Brown in a Fist Fight!!!

June 14, 2012: MediaTakeOut.com just learned that rapper Drake and his entourage got into a FIGHT . . . with CHRIS BROWN at the popular AFTER HOURS NYC nightclub WIP.

According to MULTIPLE MediaTakeOut.com snitches inside, Chris and Drake have had a DIFFICULT relationship since three years ago - when Rihanna CHEATED on Chris, with Drake. Chris has HELD A GRUDGE against Drake for years.

Well last night at WIP, we're told that Chris reportedly sent over a bottle of champagne to Drake's table, as a sort of peace offering. We're not sure WHAT happened next, but we're hearing UNCONFIRMED REPORTS that Drake sent the bottle back to Chris with a message to the effect of - "I'm f*ckng the love of your life [Rihanna], deal with it."

Whatever message Drake sent back caused Chris to immediately fly into a rage - and he CONFRONTED Drake and his entourage - which included ANOTHER Chris Brown rival, rapper Meek Mill. Meek Mill also had a relationship with Rihanna.

Well according to our snitch, Drake PUNCHED Chris in the face and before Chris could retaliate, someone (#teamnosnitch#) popped Chris in the mouth with a BOTTLE, multiple times. And as a result, Chris was LEAKING LIKE A FAUCET!!!

Security immediately swooped in and broke up the fight. Drake and 'em immediately LEFT the club, before POLICE arrived. Chris, we're told left under his own power - and later went to the HOSPITAL, to get his face sewn shut.

Man Sets His Girlfriend On Fire At 7-Eleven

A crazy South Florida man is making headlines for dousing his ex-girlfriend with gasoline and setting her on fire, and then trying to stab her with a knife. According to police, 59-year-old Roosevelt Mondesir is accused of throwing gasoline on his 34-year-old girlfriend and setting her on fire in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven. The woman had just been denied a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend just two weeks before.
The two have a four-year-old child together and had agreed to meet at 3AM today at a 7-Eleven so that she could pick up her son. A 3AM meeting? Anyway, Mondesir showed up without their son, and instead brought a bucket of gasoline.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, the woman told police that she spotted the gasoline bucket and began to run away, when Mondesir threw it on her and lit her from behind. She was already on fire when she ran into the 7-Eleven and held the door closed from the inside. The store clerk called the police, and the man was arrested after he was found hiding in the bushes.

The woman suffered burns to her face and body, but is expected to recover. Mondesir is being charged with attempted murder charges. The store security camera caught the tail end of the altercation.

You Can Judge 90% of People’s Personalities by Their Shoes

Researchers at the University of Kansas say that people can accurately judge 90 percent of a stranger's personality simply by looking at the person's shoes.

"Shoes convey a thin but useful slice of information about their wearers," the authors wrote in the new study published in the Journal of Research in Personality. "Shoes serve a practical purpose, and also serve as nonverbal cues with symbolic messages. People tend to pay attention to the shoes they and others wear."
Medical Daily notes that the number of detailed personality traits detected in the study include a person's general age, their gender, income, political affiliation, and other personality traits, including someone's emotional stability.

Lead researcher Omri Gillath said the judgments were based on the style, cost, color and condition of someone's shoes. In the study, 63 University of Kansas students looked at pictures showing 208 different pairs of shoes worn by the study's participants. Volunteers in the study were photographed in their most commonly worn shoes, and then filled out a personality questionnaire.
So, what do your shoes say about your personality?

Some of the results were expected: People with higher incomes most commonly wore expensive shoes, and flashier footwear was typically worn by extroverts.

However, some of the more specific results are intriguing. For example, "practical and functional" shoes were generally worn by more "agreeable" people, while ankle boots were more closely aligned with "aggressive" personalities.

"Shoes have great variety of styles, brands, looks, and functions. Because of this variety, shoes can carry individual difference information, but do they? We suggest that the answer is yes," the study authors wrote.

And if you have several pairs of new shoes or take exceptional care of them, you may suffer from "attachment anxiety," spending an inordinate amount of time worrying about what other people think of your appearance.

There was even a political calculation in the mix with more liberal types wearing "shabbier and less expensive" shoes.

The researchers noted that some people will choose shoe styles to mask their actual personality traits, but researchers noted that volunteers were also likely to be unaware that their footwear choices were revealing deep insights into their personalities.

Is Legalizing Weed Obama's Secret Weapon?

In 2004 George W. Bush's re-election campaign worked to put anti-gay marriage ballot initiatives up for vote in several swing states in order to turn out more hard-core conservatives to the polls. This year the question is whether marijuana legalization measures will turn out young voters for Obama.
Bush's plan to use gay marriage bans -- in states that did not actually allow gay marriage -- as a turnout booster led to signs featuring icky public restroom symbols proliferated and liberal panic that the Christian right had taken over. The press obsessed over "values voters." One of Bush's aides, Ken Mehlman, who later came out as gay himself, has apologized for the strategy, two others say it didn't work.
This year there's another incumbent president with modest approval ratings who could turn out his base with controversial ballot measures. But this time, the issue features no biblical or scatological imagery. In 2012, voters in swing states will decide whether they'll allow their fellow citizens to bear joints. Unlike the gay marriage votes, there's no indication that Obama's re-election team is behind any of the pot legalization initiatives, but there are Democrats who are hoping that it will boost turnout among weed's biggest fans: young people.
Getting more young people to vote has long been a Democratic fantasy, since they tend to vote so heavily Democratic. But past attempts to bong the vote have been disappointing, in part because stoners aren't the group anyone would most count on to bother filling out a ballot. Ahead of the 2010 midterms, The Wall Street Journal ran the story"Democrats Look to Cultivate Pot Vote in 2012," noting that California's pot-legalizing Proposition 19 was being studied to see if similar measures "could energize young, liberal voters in swing states for the 2012 presidential election." But exit polls that year showed no spike in young voter turnout, and marijuana legalization was the top issue for just 1 in 10 voters, the Los Angeles Times reported. (Also: Californians ended up voting down Prop. 19.) Still, there were hopeful signs: 64 percent of voters 18-to-24 supported it, and 52 percent of voters 25-to-29 did. In March, the pro-legalization site Just Say Now suggested that the presidential election will draw more young people to the polls, and they'll vote for pot legalization while they're there.
That being said, several have argued that this could be the year for pro-marijuana turnout. After all, 2011 was the first year more young people smoked pot than cigarettes, the CDC says. There is a marijuana initiative on the ballot in Washington, and there might be one in Nebraska and Massachusetts, but those states are pretty solid for one party or the other. Here's our guide to whether pot politics could make an impact in the swing states considering new marijuana rules:
State: Colorado
Initiative: Amendment 64 would make it legal for adults to possess up to an ounce of marijuana or six plants for cultivating. The state has allowed medical marijuana since 2000. Pro-legalization groups have raised $2 million to campaign for the amendment, the Denver Post reports.
Chances of passage: In December, the left-leaning Public Policy Polling found that 49 percent of voters supported the amendment. But this month, the right-leaning Rasmussen found that 61 percent of likely Colorado voters support it.
Chances it'll affect Obama's standing in the state: The president is averaging a very slim lead in the state, less than 2 percentage points over Mitt Romney. The Associated Press points out that though a marijuana measure failed in 2006, that year Coloradans elected a Democratic governor after eight years of Republican rule.

State: Ohio
Initiative: Supporters are collecting the 400,000 signatures required to get two amendments on the ballot: the Medical Cannabis Amendment and the Alternative Treatment Amendment. The first would allow medical marijuana, the second would set up a commission to regulate it. They were approved by the state attorney general several months ago, and the signature deadline is July 4.
Chances of passage: The initiatives aren't on the ballot yet. But in 2009 and 2010, separate polls found that 73 percent of Ohioans supported allowing medical marijuana.
Chances it'll affect Obama's standing in the state: Obama is averaging a small lead over Romney in Ohio. In 2002, Ohioans rejected a proposal to give treatment instead of jail time as punishment for some drug offenses. But maybe it's more important to think about how ballot initiatives influence voters. In 2004, a gay marriage ban passed overwhelmingly in Ohio, but some ague that the initiative didn't bring more Republican voters to the polls. Instead it got a smaller segment of voters "to think about the issues in ways that drove them into the Bush camp," The Hill wrote. The gay marriage ban didn't make evangelicals vote more, it made non-evangelicals vote more Republican. Both Romney and Obama oppose legalization, so it's tough to see how the measure would drive pro-pot independents into the Obama camp.

State: Michigan
Initiative: A municipal measure in Detroit would allow possession of less than an ounce of marijuana on private property for those aged 21 and up. That vote takes place in August. Statewide, supporters have till July to get enough signatures to put a marijuana question on the state ballot in November.
Chances of passage: An EPIC-MRA poll of likely Michigan voters in January found that 45 percent supported legalization of marijuana while 50 percent opposed it. But a Rasmussen poll of likely voters in May found that 56 percent supported legalizing and regulating marijuana similar to alcohol.
Obama's standing: Obama is averaging a 6-point lead in Michigan, but a recent EPIC-MRA poll found Romney 1 point ahead. Michigan voters approved medical marijuana by 63 percent to 37 percent in 2008. But this might be a case where Obama helped marijuana more than marijuana helped Obama. Young voters made a huge shift toward Democrats. Voters 18 to 29 voted for Obama by 68 percent to McCain's 29 percent; in 2004, 55 percent voted for John Kerry and 43 percent voted for Bush. But young people were roughly the same percentage of the electorate both years.

Zimmerman's Ugly Ass Wife Arrested

Shellie Zimmerman, wife of George Zimmerman, who killed Trayvon Martin, was arrested Tuesday on one count of perjury, the Seminole County, Fla., Sheriff’s Department said.  Deputies arrested Shellie Zimmerman, 25,  about 3:30 p.m. ET, after they were advised by the office of State Attorney Angela Corey that a warrant had been issued.  She was booked into John E. Polk Correctional Facility and released on $1,000 bond, officials said.

George Zimmerman, 28, was charged with second-degree murder in the Feb. 26 shooting of Martin.  His $150,000 bond was revoked after allegations that during an April 20 bail hearing he and Shellie Zimmeran misled the court about their finances, neglecting to disclose they had raised at least $135,000 in a PayPal account.  The order issued Tuesday by Assistant State Attorney John Guy charged Shellie Zimmerman with knowingly making false statements during the April hearing.

Mayweather career OVER???

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Lawyers for Floyd Mayweather Jr. say the undefeated champion boxer may never fight again if he’s not released from the Las Vegas jail he entered earlier this month.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports Mayweather’s lawyers filed an emergency motion Monday asking that he serve the remainder of his three-month jail sentence in house arrest.
Lawyer Richard Wright says Mayweather’s health is deteriorating by being confined to his cell 23 hours a day and restricted from working out. Jailers are keeping him from the general inmate population because of his celebrity status.
The motion says the boxer’s doctor believes the conditions could do irreversible damage to Mayweather’s physique.
Jail officials weren’t immediately available for comment.
Mayweather was booked June 1 for attacking his ex-girlfriend while two of their children watched.

ITS...ABOUT...TO GO...DOWN!!!!

Alabama's A.J. McCarron and LSU's Tyrann Mathieu took to battling on twitter this week. As if the LSU-Alabama college football rivalry needed any more fuel. Monday brought the next chapter in the Bayou Bengals-Crimson Tide SEC epic narrative. Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron and LSU's Heisman finalist Tyrann Mathieu not only went head-to-head twice last year on the field, with McCarron getting the last laugh, but the two stars have moved their duel to cyberspace. The two Athlon Sports coverboys started running their yaps on twitter. To quote McCarron, "this should fuel everything and more now."It was highly entertaining — unless your name happens to be Saban or Miles, of course. In fact, it looks like someone in both athletic departments got to the two stars to shut them up before it got too out of hand. They both ended the conversation about the same time.

A.J. immediately countered...

Honey Badger decided to tell the BCS MVP that it wasn't him who won the title...

And McCarron was happy to agree...

Mathieu is clearly ready for November 3...

Just called you to the mat Honey Badger. Did you hear him?

Alabama wideout Kenny Bell had no problem jumping into the mix...

McCarron got the final word — as the defending National Championship Game MVP should:

36 arrested in Puerto Rico airport drug running ring

36 arrested in Puerto Rico airport drug running ring

Thirty-six people were arrested on Wednesday in a crackdown on a drug trafficking ring that used Puerto Rico's main airport to smuggle large quantities of cocaine off the island aboard U.S.-bound passenger flights, authorities said.
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration said the 36 detainees, including 22 suspects rounded up at San Juan's International Airport, were among 45 people indicted for smuggling more than 61,000 pounds of cocaine out of the U.S. territory on commercial flights to the U.S. mainland since 1999.
"It's an important blow," said Laila Rico, a spokeswoman for the DEA's Caribbean Division, which is headquartered in Puerto Rico.
"The Puerto Rico airport is sought-after by drug dealers because it's basically a mid-point between South American countries and the United States and offers an easy entry point," Rico said.
She was referring to the Luis Munoz Marin International Airport in San Juan, the point from which the bulk of the drugs were flown to Miami and Orlando, in Florida, and Newark, New Jersey, aboard flights operated by American Airlines.
The DEA said in a statement that some suspects caught up in the drug bust were current or former American Airlines employees and airport personnel, who used a designated bathroom to hand over cocaine to couriers preparing to board U.S.-bound flights.
Cargo handlers on the payroll of the drug ring also worked to ensure that drug-laden suitcases were placed aboard U.S.-bound flights, the DEA said.

Another Wack Ass Gimmick to Keep Weed Illegal...

So this is their next move, huh? They are going to say that this dude was smoking weed and that caused him to eat that man's face off.  BULLSHIT! But is it possibly an indictment of religion as well?  Either way, its irresponsible reporting with an agenda behind it, so I'm just going to call it propaganda.
